| What to expect in a Reiki session For purposes of clarity, the word "client" will be used to signify the person who is receiving the energy, and the word "practitioner" will be used to signify the person giving the Reiki. | |
The length of a session can vary, however, it is wise for clients to give themselves enough time to relax and completely absorb the energy following a session. Typically, a session with Tava would include brief discussion about any symptoms you may be experiencing or your emotional state. (A client who has never received Reiki before should plan to spend more time in discussion). Next, the client would lie down and begin relaxation, either guided or unguided. During this time the client's breathing and heart rate may slow down and it is important to let any thoughts just roll off the mind. The actual receiving of the Reiki energy lasts about 40 minutes and typically begins at the feet, slowly moving upward, and then focusing on any problem areas. The clients feel the practitioner's hands accompanied by a sensation of heat or "tingles." Some clients feel no other sensation than the practitioner's hands, while others may see colors or other vivid images. Finally, the client remains in a reclined position for as long as is necessary. Jumping up too quickly can cause dizziness or fogginess so it is wise not to rush into sitting or standing, especially if driving afterwards. Some clients may feel more thirsty than usual, or have to urinate more frequently for a day or two. It is also not uncommon to have unusual and descriptive dreams following a session. Pay attention to your dreams as they yield interesting perspectives on many areas of your life! Reiki sessions are done on a sliding scale fee ranging from $40.00 to $80.00 (does not include travel expenses if Tava must commute to your home or office). Periodic special rates available. |
